iDIA Labs
A space where ancestral knowledge meets emerging technologies. Fellows, youth, and cultural knowledge holders collaborate to develop Indigenous-led digital tools, data sovereignty systems, and community-driven solutions.
Cultural Hub
Digital Sovereignty & Innovation
Rather than importing outside technology and hoping it fits, iDIA Labs starts from Ipai Yuman values and asks what tools would actually serve them. Fellows, youth, and cultural knowledge holders collaborate to develop Indigenous-led digital tools, data sovereignty systems, creative technology projects, and community-driven solutions. Every project moves through community review at every stage, so consent and cultural protocol are built into the product not added on afterward.
Focus Area
iDIA Labs is where ancestral knowledge sits down at the same table as emerging technology.
Data Sovereignty Systems
Indigenous-led infrastructure for who owns, sees, and governs community data.
Youth–Elder Fellowships
Cohorts pairing young builders with cultural mentors from day one.
Creative Tech Prototypes
Story- and ceremony-rooted projects that put culture first, tech second.
Community Review Protocols
No tool ships without the people it affects signing off first.
Youth Makers
Who is it for
iDIA Labs is built for people who want to make things, but who’ve felt out of place in rooms where “innovation” means leaving culture at the door. That includes Indigenous youth curious about coding, design, or data work who haven’t had a pathway that took their identity seriously; technologists and researchers, Native and allied, who want their skills to serve a specific community rather than an abstract market
